Electrochromic Voxel Array for 3D Display

We proposed a design and fabrication process of an electrochromic voxel array to realize the light absorption type of volume display. We examined the basic characteristics of PEDOT:PSS as an electrochromic material and demonstrated a large-scale 3D display with PEDOT:PSS. The voxel color was changed between transparency and blue by applying voltage. We confirmed that the electrochromic voxels can be utilized to realize 3D display. We fabricated a 1 mm- voxel array which consists of PEDOT:PSS-coated transparent cube made of UV-curing polymer. We observed the color change of the selected voxel both in the top view and in the side view. It was confirmed that we can construct the electrochromic voxel array for a 3D display in our fabrication process.
